Charlie Kohler

With multiple Black Belts and over 30 years of Martial Arts experience, Charlie has lived, taught, and competed in martial arts in Hong Kong, Abu Dhabi, Rio De Janeiro, Germany, and throughout the U.S starting at the age of 5.

He has trained and mentored thousands of people in various forms of Martial Arts, fitness, defensive tactics, and sports programs. His students range from youth to grandparents, hobbyists to UFC Champions, Olympic medalists, Navy SEALs, San Diego Padres, underprivileged children and troubled youths.

In 1999, Charlie opened the SD Fight Club, and is San Diego’s longest standing MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) School.  As one of San Diego’s pioneer MMA fighters and a original member of the “Abu Dhabi Combat Club”, Charlie has won multiple titles in BJJ and Judo.  He is also the only fighter to compete for a World Title in four different weight classes.  In June of 2000, Charlie brought the title home as the new “King of the Cage” Light Weight World Champion.

Charlie was a star athlete in baseball and football at Christian High School in El Cajon, Charlie and went on the playing football at Grossmont College.  He then transferred to UCSD where he received a BA in Psychology, Pre-med, with a concentration in “Injury and Prevention, of Sport”.

During his first years as a professional MMA fighter, Charlie also worked in Middle and High Schools throughout San Diego County as an academic advisor and school counselor, where he  help thousands of students in their pursuit for higher education.

Bernard Sfeir

Bernard is the head Kickboxing trainer at SDFC and has been training San Diegans into shape for more than 12 years. He has also been a martial arts instructor for the past 15 years.  Professionally he has competed in numerous San-Shu and Muay Thai kickboxing competitions, and won the European championship in both 1996 &1998.   Bernard specializes in nutrition counseling, sports conditioning, kickboxing and mixed martial arts.  He is certified by the International Sport Science Association (ISSA) both nationally and internationally and has received his Fitness Therapy Certification.

Brandon Magana

Brandon Magana

Brandon served eight years with Force Reconnaissance units in the Marine Corps where he led and instructed his fellow marines.  He has been training mixed martial arts with the SDFC since 2003. Brandon is a member of the SDFC MMA Pro-Fight team and has fought worldwide in MMA events, M1, Strikeforce, King of the Cage and many more.  He holds a brown belt in BJJ and is a key member of the SDFC competition team.  Brandon also instructs the Junior Spartans program and enjoys sharing his passion for health and fitness with today’s youth.
